My travels led me to San Antonio twice, where I coordinated a music program specifically for veterans. The band, which started in October with 28 members, has shown remarkable progress under the leadership of the retired commander of The United States Air Force Band of the West. The veteran musicians have received immense support from other active and retired members of the Air Force Band.
Inspired by the New Horizons Music approach, I aim to create a successful pilot program, test it in additional locations, and expand it further. We've already initiated bands in Columbia, SC, San Antonio, TX, and Rochester, NY, with more to follow.
Music for Veterans National Association leverages the transformative power of music to support and enrich the lives of veterans. Our foundation rests on the therapeutic qualities of music, using it as a bridge to recall the past, engage in the present, and build a promising future.
Our programs offer veterans opportunities to join music bands, learn new instruments, and participate in music camps, fostering personal growth, psychological well-being, and a sense of community.
