Many of us think “hot” when we think of Arizona in June, but with an altitude of 6,821 feet and low humidity, the average high temperatures in Flagstaff is a refreshing 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Flagstaff is very close to the Grand Canyon National Park and several other National Parks. It is 255 miles from Las Vegas.
This is a prime summer location in prime time with excellent rehearsal and guest rooms. It is a very short walk to a beautiful Lake Huron beach. The guest rooms are very close to the rehearsal rooms and it has covered walkways. Port Elgin is 134 miles north of Port Huron, Michigan and 190 miles from Buffalo, NY.
Campers were enchanted by Lakefield College School, a historic institution once attended by British royalty, nestled by a picturesque lake in Lakefield, Ontario. The camp offered concert bands at two levels, numerous small ensembles, and a variety of interest classes, providing a rich and diverse musical experience. The favorable exchange rate made it an appealing choice for Americans, adding extra value to an already exceptional camp.
With over 75 participants, the camp was a resounding success, filled with memorable performances and new friendships. REMI is excited to offer this camp again next year, promising even more opportunities for musical growth and enjoyment.
This past September, Chautauqua Institution played host to an unforgettable musical rendezvous: The Music Camp for New Horizons and Other Musicians. From September 11-15, 2023, the air was filled with the harmonious strains of advanced bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles, German bands, and several other vibrant ensembles.
Musicians from all over converged in this idyllic setting, not just to refine their craft under the guidance of seasoned instructors but also to celebrate the spirit of community. Participants resonated with shared chords of passion and camaraderie, creating lasting memories and connections.
The performances were a sight to behold, set against professional venues that only added to the aura of the event. But it wasn't just about the music. With the backdrop of Chautauqua, attendees were enveloped in an ambiance of natural beauty and cultural richness.
For over a century, Chautauqua Institution has been a beacon for those seeking enlightenment, personal growth, and a sense of community. This music camp was yet another testament to its legacy, harmonizing personal growth with the sheer joy of music. Those who were part of this majestic event have returned enriched, both in spirit and in skill. One can only eagerly anticipate what next year's gathering holds in store!
We are immensely grateful for the success of the Music Camp for New Horizons and Other Musicians held on April 24-26, 2023, at the picturesque Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock, NC. It was a genuine pleasure to see so many passionate musicians come together, forge meaningful connections, and thrive in a supportive environment.
We thank our esteemed directors, dedicated organizers, and talented participants, as it was their combined efforts that made this incredible experience possible.
The camp left everyone inspired, and we look forward to fostering more such unforgettable musical journeys in the future.
